The SEAFDEC Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC/AQD), based in Tigbauan, Iloilo, Philippines, offers a range of sustainable aquaculture training courses and distance-learning modules for Southeast Asian countries. SEAFDEC/AQD is a leading regional research and training centre that develops and disseminates aquaculture technologies for SEAFDEC member states. Its training programmes cover topics such as aquaculture nutrition and feed development, Good Aquaculture Practices (GAqP), seaweed farming and commodity-specific courses for species important in the region. Courses address hatchery operations, grow-out management and feed formulation, and are designed to translate research-based technologies into practices that farmers and extension workers can adopt. Delivery includes both in-station training at AQD facilities and online modules, widening access for participants across the region. These programmes respond to capacity gaps in resource-efficient, safe and sustainable production, which are central to both climate resilience and circular aquaculture. Classed as direct evidence under Knowledge, Capacity and Decision Support, the resource is a ready-made capacity-building partner and curriculum source. It is useful for projects needing training components, for governments and organisations seeking to upskill extension workers and farmers, and for integrating sustainable and circular practices into regional capacity-development programmes.
